Melodic rappers Bizzy Bone, Lazie Bone, Krazie Bone, Wish Bone, and the ultra-carnal Flesh-n-Bone were signed to Eazy E’s Ruthless Records in 1994. Critics have speculated that with the addition of Fun-E Bone, Thrah Bing Bone, and a pallid white girl, these guys could have gone on the road with Disney on Ice. As it happened, Bizzy Bone hit the bricks, leaving the trigger-happy barbershop quartet we know today.
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony were to be Eazy’s most successful investment, showing the world that hip hop could also capture the melody of Soul and R&B. Sadly, Eazy E died as a result of AIDS in 1995. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony released “Tha Crossroads” as a tribute to their fallen mentor on the cryptically entitled album E. 1999 Eternal.
