Reverend Horton Heat
– “Loaded Gun”

If you haven’t been saved at the Rev’s live show, I suggest you hurry out to do so.  Horton Heat may dance his fingertips across his fretboard like he was pleasuring Olivia Newton-John on the hood of a suped-up 1948 Ford, but the man ain’t getting any younger.  He is on the road again this year—his endurance is legendary—and may be coming to a city near you.  Get out there and bear witness!

Or maybe you can’t make it.  Maybe you’re heartbroken, and swilling whiskey in a dingy room under an exposed lightbulb, trying to forget the one that got away even as her scent still clings to your sheets.  Maybe you’re so lonesome you could die.

In that case, I recommend picking up a copy of the Reverend’s Full-Custom Gospel Sounds on vinyl—go ahead and splurge, you can’t take money with you!—then set the needle on “Loaded Gun,” and contemplate your options, you whiny jerk.  There couldn’t be a better soundtrack.
